Overview: Biomechanical Analysis, Correction and Retraining
Dancers

1.  The focus of our program with the elite dancer includes analysis of flexibility and alignment utilizing ideal classical ballet model as our reference point.

2.  Corrective work focuses on the optimization of spinal and extremity flexibility to achieve an immediate increase of functional joint range of motion.

3.  Retraining encompasses a return to the ballet barre to concentrate on the optimization of dancers classical ballet alignment that will be incorporated into all classes and choreographed movement. Specific stretch and concentrated alignment exercises are provided for dancer to include in their overall training program.  Cases with elite dancers with 12 years of specialized training  have yielded dramatic improvements in hip turnout, body alignment and technical performance (2-3 turns on pointe to 7-8 turns on pointe) in a one month concentrated program.

2. Corrective work focused on the optimization of spinal and extremity flexibility to achieve an immediate increase of functional joint range of motion.

3. Retraining encompasses the incorporation of classical ballet based alignment exercise sequences into the overall development program and sports specific training.

To date, this work has been successfully integrated into Olympic level development programs for  equestrian, football, gymnastics, wrestling, hockey, cross country and downhill skiing, skating and martial arts.
